INTR 2400- Interpreting IIII

Course Description:
This course focuses on ASL/ENG interpreting skills. Transliteration skills are also introduced as a means for matching consumer language use. I will work on their ability to use self-analysis techniques as well as develop strategies for continuous skill development.


 

Teaming Project:You will complete a project(s) that relate to teaming and developing a better understanding of what it is and how it works to meet the needs of the interpreters and the consumers in an assignment.

Project 1: Read the book Team Interpreting: Answer the thought questions at the end of each chapter as a blog that you will publish for your peers to read.

Chapter 1: Teaming Interpreting:  Defining What We Do

Chapter 2:  Investigating Team Interpreting

Chapter 3:  Effective Interpreting Teams

Chapter 4:  The Pre-session

Chapter 5:  Strategies for Feeding Information

Chapter 6:  Other Teaming Strategies

Chapter 7: Modality and Language Usage

Chapter 8: Different Team, Different Working Styles

Chapter 9:  Achieving and Maintaining Collaboration and Interdependence

Chapter 10: A team Interpreting Model: Collaboration and Interdependence at Work

 

Project 2:  Interview a Deaf consumer about their perspectives when utilizing interpreting services provided by a team. Create a well-edited video interview for an extra 10 points 

Project 3:  Read RID’s Standard Practice Paper on Teaming and create an Infographic that displays the information visually.
