INTR 2100 – Connections to Community III

The goals of this course is to be immersed in the Deaf community and interpreting profession through service learning and mentoring opportunities to improve language skills. Another goal of the course is to broaden my understanding of the Deaf community and the interpreting profession.

Sample of Journals in ASL: I get feedback on my ASL from my instructor and improve on all areas of ASL. These are some assignments.

Some questions  I  reflect upon and addressed in my journals.

  • Describe how you have become a better ally for the Deaf community by completing the Service Learning Project?
  • If you could redo the Service Learning Project what would you do differently and what would you not change and why.
  • What have you learned about yourself during the course of the semester and your desire/passion to become an ASL/English interpreter?
  • How has the Demand and Control schema benefitted you as you’ve gone out and volunteered as an interpreter? What Demands have you faced and what controls have you used?
